Nagano, a city located at the foot of Japanese Alps, offers some amazing mountain landscapes. This place houses several ski and winter sports facilities which make this city one of the most active place during winter. Nagano became an internationally famous tourists spot after the Winter Olympic games of 1998 which brought into the city thousands of tourists and winter sport`s lovers.

As well as sports facilities, Nagano also provide some interesting cues for tourists interested in culture and history: one of this is the Zenko-ji. This antique Buddhist temple was built in the VII century when Nagano was nothing more than a small village. After the construction of the Temple, the city of Nagano started to develop around it. The present building was rebuilt in 1707.
An interesting attraction of this Temple is the "Key to paradise", a special Key attached to the wall in the main hall; in complete darkness, visitors try to find and touch the key which grants enlightenment to anybody who touches it.

Hakuba, the most famous ski resort area of Japan, is located near Nagano. In addition to ski and snowboard facilities, there are hot springs (onsen) available around the town. A lot of parks and walk paths are open during hot season. To reach Hakuba from Nagano take the Express Bus at Nagano station. The ride takes around one hour and cost 1500 Yen.
